We don't have backseat drivers.... 16/03/2010
A horror story has appeared in a recent publication concerning an Aylesbury taxi firm. A young Mum was going on a regular shopping trip to Tesco and got out of the car and unloaded her shopping bags, paid the driver and told him she was going to get her son out of the back seat. The driver was busy talking on his phone and didn't even tell the lady how much her fare was, he just held out his hand, took the money......and drove off with child still in the car. As a parent the thought of such an awful incident sent shivers down my spine - but thankfully I am pleased to say that within 10 minutes the family were re-united after the driver was contacted by his controller. Whilst we endeavor to provide fantastic customer service to all of our customers, we do appreciate that there may be the odd occasion where this may not be the case, so if for any reason you are not satisfied with the service please, please, please let us know. If we aren't told then we cannot rectify the problem, and we do not want to lose any of your valued custom! Rest assured though, none of our drivers are looking to increase their families anytime soon! Add Comment Good luck and best wishes. 08/03/2010
Good luck to Nobby on taking over at the Sportsmans Arms, we all wish him well and hope the locals will support him. Being back in China I don't have much chance to do this. Also wish good luck to Phil our new driver who is based in North Marston. We are expanding the business to cover villages with no good taxi service such as North Marston and Waddesdon. Our services start in all local villages from this month, and we hope we can be of mutual support. Also, mind the potholes, I hear they are getting worse! Swimming for Sports Relief 25/02/2010
Tomorrow our youngest regular passenger 5 yr-old Tyler Jellis-Mead from Wing who has autism, will attempt to kick the length of his school swimming pool to raise money for Sport Relief. Anybody who would like to pledge a donation to Tyler can send a message here or call Wing Cars. Tyler only began learning to swim in September when he started school, but has come on in leaps and bounds since. Well done little man, it is a great achievement! We are now waiting to hear when our 96 yr-old customer will attempt to swim the Atlantic in record time! The Criminal Vicar Executed! 19/02/2010
Not really news as it happened well over two hundred years ago, but found it on a very interesting website with a lot of history about Wing village. You can read about this and many other Wing facts at www.wing-ops.org.uk Dr William DODD, vicar of Wing 1775 to 1777 (apparently he delivered a grand total of four sermons to the people of Wing, despite his assertion at trial that he was not an idle minister), was hanged for forging documents in the name of his patron and former pupil the Earl of Chesterfield, who owned Ascott Hall. He only had a couple of days to use his ill-gotten gains to pay outstanding tradesmen's bills before the deception was discovered. The trial report includes some modern concerns such as his ability to get a fair trial given the media publicity before the case was heard! - 1777 Proceedings of the Old Bailey What's going on??? 15/02/2010
The big question is...is Wing Cars on the slippery slope to rack and ruin? Bridget has taken 3 days off...AND LEFT THE PHONES AT HOME!!! You can hear the shock and horror reverberating around the villages when another voice answers the phone: "Oh, sorry wrong number", or a timid questioning "Is Bridget there?" often accompanied by nervous sobs. Well worry ye not!, Wing Cars is well and in the capable hands of Justin until Wednesday. As for Bridget, she still has not overcome her fear of flying, so took a busmans holiday by driving herself in a taxi to the Las Vegas of England, Bognor Regis. Here, after hitting the arcades, she found herself lounging on the bed surrounded by her winnings. So if next week you get all your change in 2p pieces you'll know why! Yet more potholes! 09/02/2010
Big News! 05/02/2010
Very regular few days, nothing much happening at all. Then yesterday all excitement! Our very first booking to come from a google search! Well, not that much excitement really, nice to get some feedback though. Let's hope it's the first of many. Got the first competition going, bit boring really, but we need a slogan :) Got some more fun items lined up for the coming months, hope we can make it enjoyable enough for people to come back. After all, who could resist the chance to win a £10 taxi voucher! More Potholes 22/01/2010
Since posting about Cublington Roads now infamous pothole I have had quite a response from people in a similar position. If any of you are thinking of making a claim you can contact me for information. Below are pics of the potholes that caught out our drivers. The first two pictures are of the one in Cublington Road, the other two are near the Tesco's roundabout in Tring on the way to the A41. Noticed today the roads in and around Wing are becoming more and more pitted. Considering the amount of taxes paid for the supposed upkeep of our roads, makes one wonder where it is being spent? Sicknote Week 19/01/2010
Since Friday evening Wing Cars office has somewhat resembled a doctors surgery. John has completed his convalescence from his mysterious illness which began just before Christmas (yeah right!) Pete L is on a course of antibiotics...best not go into that... And on Monday H was rushed into hospital for an emergency operation on his ingrowing toenail, which is a disaster as it means no doughnuts before the weekend. On a more serious note, I am curious as to how many people were caught out by the enormous pothole on the Cublington Rd? We already know of several punctures and suspension problems caused by this. Also heard 3 Welsh potholers are still unaccounted for. Don't know about the truth of this though. If any of you were caught out by this please let me know. News Page 15/01/2010
Interested to read in 'Private Hire and Taxi Monthly' (as featured on 'Have I Got News For You'...possibly), that of taxis and private hire cars stopped for spot checks by Aylesbury Vale District Council, a staggering 91% were found to have faults, over 50% of which were serious enough for the cars to be taken off the road. I hasten to add that none of these cars were ours, and am proud to say we have never had a car taken off the road due to our strict maintenance routine. If it continues like this we'll soon be the only choice for you all...hopefully! :) |
