<![CDATA[Wing Cars Private Hire and taxis - News]]>Tue, 18 Jun 2013 22:14:19 +0000Weebly<![CDATA[Age Concern/Help the Aged/Age UK/Bridget...]]>Fri, 19 Oct 2012 07:36:55 GMThttp://www.wingcars.co.uk/1/post/2012/10/age-concernhelp-the-agedage-ukbridget.htmlWing Cars have happily worked alongside Age Concern Buckinghamshire (now Age UK following a recent merger with Help the Aged) and have seen first hand the difference that Margot, Heather and the team have made to so many lives over the past 18 years at the day centre in Wing. So it is with great happiness that we congratulate the team on the recent award of The Queens Award for Voluntary Service (equivalent of an MBE). So if Margot can finally stop the Gossip Girls chatting in the kitchen and doing some work then I feel a Knighthood could be achievable. Should they ever get Bridget in there, then surely a knighthood would quickly be in the offing...

<![CDATA[Very Belated Thanks...]]>Fri, 19 Oct 2012 07:29:25 GMThttp://www.wingcars.co.uk/1/post/2012/10/very-belated-thanks.htmlWe have had some very nice and complimentary comments from people on here, so although I haven't thanked each of you personally I would like you to know it is very much appreciated. The blog about the hanging vicar was most popular, not surprisingly I suppose!]]><![CDATA[September 30th, 2012]]>Mon, 01 Oct 2012 02:54:17 GMThttp://www.wingcars.co.uk/1/post/2012/09/september-30th-2012.htmlPicture

<![CDATA[Staff Changes]]>Mon, 01 Oct 2012 02:08:33 GMThttp://www.wingcars.co.uk/1/post/2012/09/staff-changes.htmlAs many of you are probably aware there have been several staff changes recently at Wing Cars. We welcome five new drivers, whose profiles and photos will soon appear on the drivers page.
We are sure you will join us in sending best wishes to Pete B. and Pete L. , who have decided to move on to pursue other options.
Last but not least it is with great sadness and regret we must say goodbye to Julie who has has to retire due to health reasons. Julie was with us for almost 10 years, and always gave a great service both to the company and our customers, we wish her good health and good luck in the future.]]>
<![CDATA[Changes Afoot...]]>Mon, 01 Oct 2012 02:01:58 GMThttp://www.wingcars.co.uk/1/post/2012/09/changes-afoot.htmlFirstly, apologies for the lengthy delay in updating the website. Recent times have seen a very busy Wing Cars, and there have been and will be many changes to the company, hopefully for the best. The drivers will soon be wearing their new Wing Cars uniforms (probably with the exception of Bridget, old dogs, new tricks etc...oops, bad phrase to use maybe!) The uniforms are based on a Brazilian carnival theme I am led to believe, so Justin in a bikini and ostrich feathers should be a sight to behold.

<![CDATA[BREAKING NEWS!]]>Fri, 19 Nov 2010 08:16:32 GMThttp://www.wingcars.co.uk/1/post/2010/11/breaking-news.htmlThe webmaster just experienced his first ever earthquake!
Well, my chair moved for a split second anyway, but then my friend called to tell me there had been an earthquake the other side of the city, only 2.8 on the Richter scale though so no need to send cash aid just yet. Well, you can use your discretion of course.....send all donations to Robin, bank A/C no. ..........

<![CDATA[You don't have to be mad to work here.....]]>Mon, 15 Nov 2010 12:21:57 GMThttp://www.wingcars.co.uk/1/post/2010/11/you-dont-have-to-be-mad-to-work-here.htmlWe are often on the lookout for new drivers as the business grows. So if you enjoy driving and meeting new people from all walks of life, have spare time on your hands and want to earn some extra cash you may be interested?

No experience or own vehicle required, however good knowledge of the local area is essential and knowledge of airports and London would be preferred.

If you are or know anyone who may be interested in sub-contracting to Wing Cars please contact us for more details.]]>
<![CDATA[When a Fares not Fair!]]>Mon, 15 Nov 2010 12:19:18 GMThttp://www.wingcars.co.uk/1/post/2010/11/when-a-fares-not-fair.htmlWe've all been there, the gas bill drops through the letterbox and straight away we run and check the meter to see if the estimate is accurate. Why? We trust meters, don't we? Well this is apparently not always the case. We have received numerous reports of extortionate fees being charged in metered taxis, and people pay because "it's what the meter said". BEWARE! A meter in a cab can be changed to suit the drivers pocket. There are different rates to be charged at different times of day/year e.g you would expect to pay double time on christmas day, but not on a sunday afternoon in october..... We have been told that on some occasions where the drivers have been challenged on the price they can become hostile and somewhat intimidating. So if you feel that you have been the victim of a scam like this, there is something you can do. take the licence number of the vehicle (on the plate on the rear of the vehicle) and report it to the local authority.

When our 'competitors' operate in this manner it can give our industry a bad name, and you a lighter wallet.

We do not use a meter in our vehicles and prices can usually be agreed prior to any journey being undertaken and we have fixed rates for most of our journeys so you can feel safe in the knowledge that you will pay the same expensive price every time!

<![CDATA[Our very own Superman!]]>Mon, 15 Nov 2010 12:12:32 GMThttp://www.wingcars.co.uk/1/post/2010/11/our-very-own-superman.htmlIts that time of year again

Whilst he stops short of wearing his pants outside his overalls, we still recognise the hero qualities of our expert tyre supplier and fitter, Chris Figg of MK Tyres. Chris has sourced winter tyres for all of our vehicles to ensure that our customers are as safe as possible on the roads this winter. Chris says that "the misconception is that it has to be snowing for winter tyres to be required but an ordinary tyre hardens when the temperature drops below 7 degrees, this can reduce grip and increase stopping diistances. A winter tyre is also very little difference in cost to a normal tyre and what price can you put on your safety?"

If you want more info on winter tyres, please contact Chris or the team on 01525 373740
