Well, my chair moved for a split second anyway, but then my friend called to tell me there had been an earthquake the other side of the city, only 2.8 on the Richter scale though so no need to send cash aid just yet. We are often on the lookout for new drivers as the business grows. Having recently taken on an exciting new contract we are currently looking for drivers to spread the workload between the team.
 
So if you enjoy driving and meeting new people from all walks of life, have spare time on your hands and want to earn some extra cash you may be interested?
 
No experience or own vehicle required, however good knowledge of the local area is essential and knowledge of airports and London would be preferred.

We've all been there, the gas bill drops through the letterbox and straight away we run and check the meter to see if the estimate is accurate. Why? We trust meters, don't we? Well this is apparently not always the case. We have received numerous reports of extortionate fees being charged in metered taxis, and people pay because "it's what the meter said". BEWARE! A meter in a cab can be changed to suit the drivers pocket. There are different rates to be charged at different times of day/year e.g you would expect to pay double time on christmas day, but not on a sunday afternoon in october..... We have been told that on some occasions where the drivers have been challenged on the price they can become hostile and somewhat intimidating. So if you feel that you have been the victim of a scam like this, there is something you can do. take the licence number of the vehicle (on the plate on the rear of the vehicle) and report it to the local authority.
 
When our 'competitors' operate in this manner it can give our industry a bad name, and you a lighter wallet.
 
We do not use a meter in our vehicles and prices can usually be agreed prior to any journey being undertaken and we have fixed rates for most of our journeys so you can feel safe in the knowledge that you will pay the same expensive price every time!

Its that time of year again
 
Whilst he stops short of wearing his pants outside his overalls, we still recognise the hero qualities of our expert tyre supplier and fitter, Chris Figg of MK Tyres. Chris has sourced winter tyres for all of our vehicles to ensure that our customers are as safe as possible on the roads this winter. Chris says that "the misconception is that it has to be snowing for winter tyres to be required but an ordinary tyre hardens when the temperature drops below 7 degrees, this can reduce grip and increase stopping diistances. A winter tyre is also very little difference in cost to a normal tyre and what price can you put on your safety?"

Our website is under a year old and it has just achieved another milestone, we have now surpassed 1000 unique visitors to our site. We have been visited by people in 27 countries (we're expanding but not quite that far....yet!) and we seem to be particularly popular in The town of Bethlehem! Bethlehem, Pennsylvania that is (oddly enough it's in the county of Northampton). We are still waiting for our first booking from overseas but the world is a smaller place these days so who knows???

Firstly please accept our sincere apologies for the lack of recent additions to the site. This has been due in no small part to some technical issues (i.e not knowing how to update the site in the absence of our webmaster). Rest assured though that this problem appears to have been overcome (we hope) and there will be a more regular flow of updates moving forward.It has been a very exciting and busy summer ‘holiday’ for Wing cars…..
Firstly
We started our attempt to move up-market (with the cars at least) with the addition to the fleet of 2 lovely Mercedes E-Class estates…..
Secondly
A small local private hire firm, Rushmere Cars,  has decided to cease trading in the face of increasing competition and increasing running costs. Thankfully for us, Sid, the owner of that business knows our reputation and has entrusted his valued customers to Wing Cars. The only downside is we have had to adopt one of his drivers as part of the deal, so we would like to welcome Graham to the team, his Mug Shot and some details of his dubious credentials can be viewed on the Drivers page on this site.
Good luck to Sid in his well earned retirement!
Thirdly
We have been asked to (and proudly accepted) become a member of the NHS & DVLA Staff Benefit Scheme. So if you are a member or affiliate of either of these 2 organisations you will be able to find our details on your intranet shortly. We look forward to assisting you in the future!
Fourthly
We have just this week taken delivery of a new Mercedes Traveliner Minibus. It’s a 7 seater high spec vehicle providing all the comfort and quality you would expect from a Mercedes.
And finally….
Bridget can finally have her front room back!!
We are pleased to say that we have finally acquired an office in Wing after 24 years of searching. We move in on the 15th of September Our immediate neighbours are Thames Valley Police so we will have to be on our best behaviour (or work under the cover of darkness in disguise).
On a serious note, it is purely an administration base and unfortunately will not be a customer pick up point.
So a lot has been happening for us, and all this whilst Bridget took her second holiday of the decade!

Well it's finally all go after a traumatic week for many travelers. The lack of definite information has caused everyone a lot of issues but we are now fully up and running with all of our team on standby for airport journeys. So if you have a requirement please contact us and we will do all we can to assist you in your travels!
 
We have taken so many calls from people in desperate situations and have undertaken some unusual trips....but the strangest journey enquiry we had in the last week takes some beating. One of our regular customers from the Czech Republic have been stuck in the lovely town of Berkhamsted for the last week. In desperation they enquired as to the cost of a cab to Ramsgate, whereupon we would need to board the ferry to Ostend, drop them off in the port, get back on the ferry for another back to the UK. Around trip of approximately 18 hours. Why? The ferry company would only book them as car passengers not as foot passengers....is it me or is this insane? Luckily they managed to get an alternative option which will take them a couple of days to get home. We wish them and all of our customers a safe journey.

Quite possibly not a lot of people know this, but if you are over 60 and live in one of the villages you are entitled to monthly taxi tokens. If you would like further details of this scheme, please contact us.
